Researcher - Perovskite Packaging and Reliability

About the role

The National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) is seeking a Researcher III to join the Materials, Chemical and Computational Science Directorate. This position focuses on the reliability and packaging of metal halide perovskite photovoltaic technologies, including tandems.

Responsibilities

• Develop methods for packaging perovskite-based solar cells and modules
• Conduct accelerated stress tests on samples and perform post-mortem root-cause analysis to understand failure mechanisms
• Analyze degradation mechanisms in perovskite modules with a focus on packaging materials
• Correlate indoor testing and field-testing results for degradation in packaging materials and perovskite devices
• Communicate results to internal stakeholders and publish findings in traditional journals and conferences
• Work closely with the Environment, Health, & Safety team to follow safe work procedures and handle waste properly

Requirements

• Relevant PhD or Master's Degree with 3+ years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of experience
• Materials characterization skills such as SEM, EDS, XPS, XRD, EL, and PL
• Significant experience in packaging perovskite modules, including single junctions, 2T and 4T perovskite/Si tandems
• Ability to interface with researchers from different disciplines and learn topics outside their area of expertise

• Complete understanding and wide application of scientific technical procedures, principles, theories, and concepts in the field of materials science
• General knowledge of other related disciplines
• Demonstrated leadership in team, task, or project lead responsibilities
• Demonstrated experience in managing projects
• Strong technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills

Pay

$83,600 - $150,500 annually

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week
