Responsibilities
- Conduct complex scientific investigations in a foundational biological/health science laboratory
- Collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to design, manage, and implement research projects
- Plan, design, and conduct advanced experiments
- Execute molecular, biochemical, or other specialized procedures
- Provide technical expertise
- Extract, analyze, and evaluate experimental data
- Develop and implement new or revised methodologies
- Establish criteria, controls, and standards to achieve project goals
- Contribute to scholarly output by preparing manuscripts, abstracts, and reports for publication in scientific journals
- Present findings at national and international conferences and workshops
- Support grant development by drafting, editing, and critiquing proposals
- Identify potential funding sources
- Cultivate relationships with current and prospective sponsors
- Oversee laboratory operations
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment
- Negotiate and manage service contracts
- Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
- Train research staff in new methodologies
- Serve as a consultant to other investigators in their area of expertise
Requirements
- Master's Degree or equivalent experience required; 5 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree, or 3 years of relevant experience required with Master's Degree
- Considerable experience in a biological/health research capacity is required, along with strong knowledge and expertise
- Experience in a progressively responsible administrative role and in planning and developing research projects is preferred
