Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex scientific investigations in a foundational biological/health science laboratory
  • Collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to design, manage, and implement research projects
  • Plan, design, and conduct advanced experiments
  • Execute molecular, biochemical, or other specialized procedures
  • Provide technical expertise
  • Extract, analyze, and evaluate experimental data
  • Develop and implement new or revised methodologies
  • Establish criteria, controls, and standards to achieve project goals
  • Contribute to scholarly output by preparing manuscripts, abstracts, and reports for publication in scientific journals
  • Present findings at national and international conferences and workshops
  • Support grant development by drafting, editing, and critiquing proposals
  • Identify potential funding sources
  • Cultivate relationships with current and prospective sponsors
  • Oversee laboratory operations
  • Ensure proper maintenance of equipment
  • Negotiate and manage service contracts
  • Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations
  • Train research staff in new methodologies
  • Serve as a consultant to other investigators in their area of expertise

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience required; 5 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree, or 3 years of relevant experience required with Master's Degree
  • Considerable experience in a biological/health research capacity is required, along with strong knowledge and expertise
  • Experience in a progressively responsible administrative role and in planning and developing research projects is preferred
