Research Technologist I
About the Role
As a Research Tech, you will perform standard laboratory procedures with some independence, under the general supervision of a PI or Research Technician. Your contributions are vital for efficient lab operations. You will execute experimental protocols, collect and record data, and maintain lab equipment. You may also perform complex procedures and provide guidance to students.
To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong foundation in lab techniques, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively. Reliability, safety adherence, and a willingness to learn are key.
Responsibilities
- Performs experiments and analysis of data with minimal mentoring.
- May make original contributions to research by writing, presenting at meetings, or assisting with grant applications.
- Presents periodic project updates to department mentor and staff, and if appropriate, at national meetings or for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
- Maintains accurate records of experiments and develops comprehensive computer skills for database searching, data acquisition, and data entry.
- Adheres to and is familiar with the policies and safety practices of the hospital; attends all required in-services regarding biohazard, infectious, and safety issues.
- Learns techniques necessary to conduct research in the basic sciences with a faculty mentor(s).
- Capable of developing a hypothesis, designing experiments to test that hypothesis, and implementing new approaches to research investigations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a science field (Required).
- Experience in a research laboratory or equivalent (Required).
- Experience as an intern or student research technician (Preferred).

Pay
$18.15 - $23.14 per hour.
