About the role
The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Research Technician in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology. The Research Technician will join a team doing clinical and translational research in asthma and other pediatric lung diseases.
Responsibilities
- Processing research samples including blood and small tissue samples
- Extracting DNA and RNA following standard protocols
- Organizing and biobanking samples
- Performing analytical tests such as gel electrophoresis
- Updating files and reports
- Aiding with laboratory supply inventory
- Other routine procedures in compliance with laboratory policies and regulations
Requirements
- Previous wet laboratory experience
- Experience isolating/handling RNA and DNA
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to follow protocols
- Keep accurate records
- Troubleshoot
- Work independently on daily tasks
- Advanced computer skills
Qualifications
- College courses in biology, biochemistry, genetics, biomedical engineering, statistics, or related scientific field is preferred
