Research Technician, Neurology

NEUROLOGY (IN-NEUR-IUINA) The Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine Department of Neurology has a rich tradition in academic neurology with a national reputation in neurological education and neuroscience research. The department is located in the In IU Health Neuroscience Center, a state-of-the-art outpatient center that unites all the specialties that involve nervous system disorders: Neurology, Neurosurgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neuropsychology and Neuroradiology. It is also home of the main outpatient Neurophysiology laboratory at IU Health. The adjoining IU School of Medicine Neurosciences Research Building enables clinicians, basic scientists, and clinician-scientists to collaborate in an environment that is rarely achieved in academic medicine. The Inoue Lab is a newly established research laboratory investigating the molecular mechanisms of inherited and protein aggregate myopathies. The research focuses on skeletal muscle proteostasis and chaperone biology, with the long-term goal of identifying new therapeutic strategies for muscle diseases. The research technician will join the laboratory at an early and exciting stage of its development and will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to both scientific projects and the establishment of laboratory operations. General Responsibilities Performs a wide variety of complex experiments and reports results. Keeps organized analytical data of performed experiments. Provides support for equipment maintenance as needed. Acts as a liaison to students and laboratory personnel for training. Maintains laboratory supply requisition and management. May train junior-level staff. May help plan experiments or short-term goals. Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education. EDUCATION Required Bachelor's degree in science or a related field. Preferred WORK EXPERIENCE Related experience.
