About the role

The position is for a technician to provide research assistance for the establishment and propagation of 3D organoid cultures as part of the Baylor College of Medicine 3D Organoid Core. This role is suitable for someone who can handle multiple tasks and follow instructions to complete assignments under minimal supervision by a higher-level research staff member. The position offers a unique and rewarding translational research experience in a dynamic and highly productive core facility.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing, validating, and maintaining organoid cultures
  • Collecting, compiling, and analyzing validation results on the cultures
  • Documentation and storage of cultures
  • Data entry into Core databases
  • Contribution to core maintenance including ordering supplies, general clean up, freezer cataloging, and maintaining lab equipment
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field (four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement)
  • One year of relevant experience
  • Technical skills including sterile technique for the maintenance and culturing of cells, flow cytometry, microscopy, and RT-qPCR
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment (this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in basic science or a related field
  • Tissue culture experience
