Research Technician I, Oral Biology
About the role
We are seeking a Research Technician I to join Dr. Camila Sabatini’s research team in the Department of Oral Biology at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. The primary focus of this role is the study of dental pulp stem cells with an emphasis on regenerative dentistry.
The successful candidate will manage multiple detail-oriented tasks with minimal supervision, demonstrate troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills, and develop and execute both in vitro and in vivo experiments. Strong organizational abilities, a collaborative mindset, and a willingness to learn new laboratory techniques are essential.
Responsibilities
- Mammalian cell culture
- DNA/RNA extraction and PCR
- Protein detection/quantification and cell signaling studies (immunofluorescence, western blotting, ELISA, plasmid recombination)
- Mice and ferret colony maintenance, breeding, genotyping, and sample harvesting
- Histology (sample preparation)
- Microscopy imaging (brightfield, confocal, and transmission electron microscopy)
- Flow cytometry: multiple channel FACS analysis and immune profiling
- Administrative duties (taking notes during lab meetings, assisting with purchase orders and inventory management, managing protocol submissions and documentation, lab organization)
- Training and supervision of new technicians and students
Requirements
- Experience with statistical software (GraphPad Prism)
- Prior experience with animal work is a strong plus
