Research Technician 3- Immunology and Rheumatology

Responsibilities

• Assist and support scientific investigation to study autoimmune disease as directed in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology and Immunology
• Independently conducts assigned experiments
• Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis
• Sorts and processes tissue and blood samples
• Tests and evaluates current procedures
• Performs routine procedures on lab animals
• Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
• Affirms the validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
• Sumsmarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
• Prepares research progress reports
• Assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts
• Covers library research on requested topics through researching current literature
• Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
• Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
• Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
• Maintains accuracy of research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed
