About the role

This position is open for external candidates only to apply. The Sigma Operations Group (Sigma-OPS) is seeking an energetic, customer-focused individual to join our Programmatic Maintenance team. The Research Technician will provide support to all aspects of the Programmatic Maintenance team including, but not limited to, corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance activities on programmatically owned equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in corrective and preventative maintenance
  • Responsible for assembly and disassembly of related equipment
  • Providing feedback to the programmatic maintenance planner to document work tasks
  • Working from maintenance manuals and/or diagrams to troubleshoot and maintain various types of programmatic systems with direction from higher level technicians and technologists
  • Responsible for electrical and mechanical equipment repairs
  • Providing detailed operations to the programmatic maintenance planner to document work order tasks and completion
  • Navigating machine manuals to find replacement parts and contacting vendors to get part/consumable quotes and troubleshooting instructions

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of personnel and customers
  • Ability to follow work instructions
  • Ability to follow safeguards and security procedures in accordance with Laboratory policy
  • Experience with working to a set of defined requirements and regulations (e.g. chemical management and pressure safety policies)
  • Experience working in a highly regulated, safety, Integrated Work Document (IWD) and checklist environments
  • Demonstrated experience executing job responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Proficient computer skills with common applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to obtain a Q-clearance which typically requires US citizenship

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications: Associate's Degree and 3 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
  • Additional qualifications for Research Technician 4: Demonstrated experience with maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems, ability to mentor colleagues with less maintenance experience, and demonstrated knowledge in supporting maintenance programs such as; metrology, waste management, and safety
