About the role

The Tothova Laboratory at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Broad Institute is seeking a full-time Research Technician I to support a multidisciplinary research program focused on the molecular and epigenetic drivers of cancer and blood disorders, particularly myeloid malignancies such as myelodysplastic syndromes and acute myeloid leukemia. This laboratory brings together physician-scientists, researchers, and computational biologists to study disease mechanisms and identify new therapeutic strategies, with growing interests in immuno-oncology and the non-coding genome.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain and troubleshoot equipment
  • Clean, maintain and prepare supplies and work areas and may be responsible for ordering of supplies
  • Conduct standardized biological, microbiological or biochemical tests and laboratory analyses, including the collection of information and samples from organic substances, such as blood, drugs, and animals
  • Isolate, identify and prepare specimens for examination
  • Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports and summaries of findings, including grant preparation and presentations, and look for opportunities to co-author publications
  • May be expected to participate in formal and information presentations of results to staff
  • Maintain detailed notebook of all work-related activities
  • Monitor laboratory work to ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety information as well as the standard operation procedures specific to each laboratory

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field
  • Have foundational experience in laboratory methods, molecular biology, and genetics
  • Work well collaboratively, demonstrate initiative and curiosity, and be available to commit to at least two years in the role

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of information and techniques related to either biology, chemistry, or medicine is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks

Skills

  • Highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats
  • Available to commit to at least two years in the role

Pay

$47,500.00 - $51,300.00
