About the role
This is an on-call, as-needed position to assist in covering rotational shifts of days, mids, and nights and weekends. The role is office-based in Daytona Beach, FL, and a schedule will be provided in advance.
Responsibilities
- Interact directly with healthy volunteer participants while learning to read clinical research protocols.
- Accurately perform blood pressure, venipuncture, weights, pulse, respiratory rate, and temperature readings.
- Prepare and accurately record ECGs/Holters.
- Collect and process biological samples as specified in the protocol and ensure proper distribution of those samples.
- Monitor meals to ensure dietary compliance by research participants.
- Assist in the preparation of rooms and medical equipment.
- Assist with screening procedures as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working and study environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Fortrea may consider relevant and equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirements).
- EMT, CMA, or CNA certification preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience required.
- 1 year of related experience.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a laboratory and/or clinical environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
- Occasional drives to site locations and occasional domestic travel.
- Exposure to biological fluids.
- Personal protective equipment required, such as protective eyewear, garments, and gloves.
The role operates in an environment that is:
- Fast-paced: No deviations from the study protocol are allowed, and missing timelines by even a few minutes may create quality issues.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an upright and/or stationary position for 6-8 hours per day.
- Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists to operate lab equipment.
- Occasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of the upper body and neck.
- Ability to access and use a variety of computer software, both in-house and off-the-shelf.
- Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moving) objects, including luggage and a laptop computer, with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
- Regular and consistent attendance.
- Varied hours may be required.
