About the role
The Decision Neuroscience and Psychopathology Lab (DNPL; PIs: Drs. Alexandre Dombrovski, Timothy Allen, and Aliona Tsypes) in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a full-time Research Specialist to work on NIMH-funded studies examining decision processes involved in depression, personality pathology, and suicidal behavior. The lab uses behavioral experiments, ecological momentary assessment (EMA), passive sensing, computational modeling, and physiological measures like fMRI and EEG to investigate learning and neural mechanisms underlying personality and psychopathology. This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the design, implementation, and administration of research protocols focusing on personality, psychopathology, neuroscience, and computational modeling, including several ongoing multi-modal (fMRI, EEG, EMA, physiology) R01 studies.
- Data collection, scheduling and screening participants, data management, participant recruitment and retention, lab administration, clinical assessment, and supervision of undergraduate students.
- Analysis of behavioral and neuroimaging data.
- Contribute to additional lab projects; successful lab members get support with independent data projects.
- Perform all other duties assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology or related research field.
- Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required; two years preferred.
- Experience with psychopathology and behavioral assessments preferred.
- Experience working with clinical populations preferred.
- Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
- Programming experience (R, Matlab, Python, Bash or similar); fMRI, EMA and/or EEG data collection preferred.
- Processing and analysis experience preferred.
Pay
$20.00–30.55 USD per hour.
Schedule
Full-time, regular position with day shift.
