About the Role
Assists the Wall of Wind (WOW) team with the design, construction, and implementation of the planned test including instrumentation, data collection, analysis and technical report writing. Works with WOW EF staff members to perform a variety of experimental testing for clients including specimen construction and instrumentation.
Responsibilities
- Designs and fabricates the testing apparatuses and specimens, instrumentation of test specimens, data analysis, correction, and document presentation for various assignments related to testing of buildings and other structures to natural wind hazards.
- Communicates with potential clients, to develop testing proposals including scope of work, designs and budgets.
- Assists with itemized purchases for testing specimen fabrication.
- Assists with technical reports to clients and progress reports to funding agencies.
- Assists in the development and implementation of procedures for the program.
- Updates Wall of Wind Facility documents as necessary.
- Interprets and implements policies and procedures as they apply to an assigned area of responsibility. May recommend changes on policy and procedures as necessary.
- Works to strict schedules and project milestones while maintaining product quality. Troubleshoots errors to minimize downtime.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and four (4) years of experience or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in construction and lab environments.
Pay & Schedule
- Advertised Salary: $42,500.00
- Work Schedule: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
- Travel to FIU Campus.
