Responsibilities

  • Coincording brain tissue requests
  • Performing brain dissections and collecting brain samples
  • Cutting and staining brain tissue for immunohistochemical analyses
  • Aiding with incoming/outgoing material transfer requests
  • Overseeing a larger organizational project to process large volume of incoming cases
  • Collaborating with the Brain Bank team
  • Assisting with manuscript preparation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience or a related field
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related experience
  • Proficient with MS office applications, database systems, and PubMed
  • Excellent English communication skills both oral and written
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health sensitive information

Special Requirements

  • Occasional travel between Boston University School of Medicine and the VA Healthcare Systems (Jamaica Plain and Bedford)
  • Occasional rotating weekend on-call/beeper coverage on an as needed basis
  • Handling human biological specimens
  • Relevant biosafety training and vaccination compliance per institutional policy
