Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- SEC research, including retrieving current and archived documents, researching precedents, language and various types of agreements.
- Corporate research, including background information on companies, individuals and transactions, corporate governance issues and deal data.
- Litigation research, including researching complex fact patterns and finding and retrieving dockets, pleadings and cases.
- Legislative, regulatory, financial, statistical and other non-legal research.
- Provide data for updating the internal firm publications, firm seminar materials and client presentations.
- Supervise requests handled by outside agents for quality and confidentiality.
- Create and monitor alerts for news, SEC filings, dockets and other sources, as requested.
- Participate in conducting orientation and training programs for paralegals and new associates.
- Affiliate with evaluating new and updated versions of information resources, online and print sources, and recommend beneficial information sources for the firm.
- Other related duties and projects that increase the value of research services to the firm, as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Proficiency with internet research and a majority of the following databases: Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, Bloomberg terminal, Intelligize, Capital IQ, Factset, VitalLaw, Pacer, File&Serve, Courtlink, Deal Point Data, ISS Compass, Refinitiv and others.
- Excellent computer skills, including relevant firm computer software programs (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Interest and ability in technology and innovation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to multi-task and to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them in a timely manner.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse clientele, including attorneys, paralegals, administrative staff, vendors and occasionally clients.
Education and Experience
- M.S. in Library Science required.
- J.D. a plus.
- Minimum three years’ experience performing research in a large law firm or financial firm.
Working Conditions
- Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, etc.
Pay
The expected base salary for this role ranges from $115,000 - $135,000. The base salary offer is based on a variety of factors which includes, but is not limited to, qualifications, education and experience.
Schedule
Shift: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Wednesday 11:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
