About the Role
We are seeking a Research Specialist to contribute to two research projects supported by the National Institute of Mental Health:
- The Longitudinal Study of Late-Life Suicide aims to understand the dynamic interplay of biological and psychological factors of aging that either protect against or exacerbate the risk of suicide in late life. This longitudinal study assesses suicidal ideation trajectories, changes in cognitive performance, and ecological momentary assessments (EMA) to explore how cognitive abilities, decision-making, emotional changes, and circadian rhythm contribute to suicide risk. The study employs neurocognitive assessments, decision process measures, actigraphy, and EMA for a detailed clinical characterization. Learn more.
- The Rhythms after Loss for Improving Suicidal Risk in Elders (RISE) Study examines suicide risk and resilience during early spousal bereavement. It investigates whether a digital health intervention targeting the timing and regularity of social activities, sleep (circadian rhythm), and meals—alongside weekly health coaching sessions—can reduce suicide risk among older adults. The study uses motivational interviewing, mood and behavioral assessments, psychosocial evaluations, neurocognitive tests, and rest-activity rhythm measures. Learn more.
