Research Specialist A

About the Role

The Research Specialist A is an integral member of a molecular biology laboratory focused on the mechanisms of kidney disease development, including the laboratory's ex vivo perfused human kidney (ProKidney) project. This position involves collecting, organizing, and processing human kidney tissue samples, performing molecular biology techniques, and supporting day-to-day research activities. Position contingent upon funding.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantitative PCR
• Isolate RNA and DNA, measure concentration, and examine quality
• Microdissect human kidney tissue samples
• Prepare histological slides, including cutting and staining of samples
• Compile and document research results and assist in data interpretation
• Operate computer equipment for the collection and tabulation of research results
• Send and receive samples and data; interact with collaborators
• Perform genotyping PCR
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Pay

$45,278.00 - $50,000.00 Annual Rate. Salary offers are based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they relate to the position, and are aligned with external market data and internal peer data at Penn.
