About the role

The Manager of Research Security is tasked with developing and implementing security protocols to protect sensitive research data and facilities from potential threats. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of security measures and compliance standards to ensure the safety of personnel and the integrity of research activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures to protect sensitive research data and facilities from unauthorized access and threats.
  • Carry out regular security assessments and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures and identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor security incidents and breaches, conduct thorough investigations and coordinate response efforts to mitigate risks.
  • Provide training and awareness programs for employees on security best practices and the importance of safeguarding research information.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with law enforcement and security agencies to enhance the organization's security posture and response capabilities.
  • Prepare and present reports on security incidents, risks, and compliance to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and recommend security technologies and solutions to improve the organization's overall security infrastructure.
  • Stay current with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to research security to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology and research teams to integrate security protocols into research processes and technologies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience, including three or more years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

  • Additional Preferred Qualifications: Prior proven experience with: Special Access Programs Management, Joint Access Database Environment, Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI).
  • Prior Preferred Educational Qualifications: Master's Degree in related discipline or equivalent.

  • Salary Job Grade R10 Salary range is dependent on candidate's experiences and skills that ranges from $106,371 - $179,767.
