About the Role

The Research Scientist position will contribute to the development of innovative materials for organic electronics applications. This role focuses on modeling, design, and synthesis of organic and organometallic compounds, with an emphasis on molecular design and synthesis of novel small molecules to understand their optoelectronic properties. You will collaborate closely with our computational team to generate new lead compounds for UDC's R&D program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform route design, synthesis, purification, analysis, and characterization of small to medium-scale organic and organometallic compounds.
  • Troubleshoot challenging synthetic reactions and/or develop new transformations toward novel molecular architectures.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of organic electronic material properties to ideate innovative new compounds.
  • Collaborate with chemists, engineers, and materials scientists to improve materials and devices.
  • Stay up to date with scientific literature.
  • Write and interpret technical information and effectively communicate with peers and management.
  • Handle instrument maintenance and other lab duties.

Requirements

  • PhD in chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
  • In-depth understanding and proven experience with the synthesis and characterization of organic and organometallic compounds.
  • Ability to effectively plan and execute complex multistep syntheses.
  • Demonstrated understanding of organic and organometallic reaction mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of modern analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC, UV, IR) and instrumentation for characterizing organic compounds.
  • Proficiency in basic computer software and internet applications, including ChemDraw, Origin, and MS Office suite.

Pay

Annual compensation range: $105,000–$120,000. At Universal Display Corporation, base pay is one part of our total compensation package. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This posting reflects the annual salary range only and does not include bonus, equity, or sales incentives, if applicable.
