About The Role
The Research Scientist will serve as a key contributor in our laboratory operations, supporting preclinical studies focused on cancer immunology, inflammation, metabolic disease, infectious disease, and toxicology. This role requires strong hands-on laboratory expertise and the ability to independently execute and manage complex in vitro studies using advanced techniques such as flow cytometry, western blotting, ELISA, PCR, CRISPR, immune cell enrichment, and cell-based assays. The Research Scientist will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including In Vivo and Quality Assurance, to support assay development and validation, sample analysis, laboratory operations, and regulatory compliance. This individual will also play an important role in mentoring junior staff, maintaining laboratory organization, and ensuring adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Research Design & Study Execution
- Design, plan, and execute complex in vitro research studies and experimental protocols.
- Independently manage multiple assay types while ensuring scientific quality, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction.
- Perform Advanced Laboratory Techniques
- Include Flow Cytometry, Western Blotting, ELISA, PCR, CRISPR, Immune Cell Enrichment, and Cell-Based Assays.
- Support assay development and validation activities under GLP conditions, including immunogenicity testing, ADA assays, antibody PK, and immunophenotyping.
- Conduct histology, hematology, and clinical chemistry analyses as needed.
- Data Analysis and Documentation
- Analyze and interpret experimental data and generate bioanalytical reports.
- Develop and maintain research protocols and SOPs.
- Maintain accurate and compliant laboratory documentation in accordance with GLP and EHS standards.
- Train and guide junior laboratory staff on proper documentation and laboratory practices.
- Laboratory Operations and Compliance
- Promote laboratory efficiency through implementation of 6S methodologies (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety).
- Ensure laboratory cleanliness, organization, and compliance with safety standards.
- Oversee maintenance, calibration, and optimization of laboratory equipment.
- Collaborate with QA on instrument qualification, operational qualification (OQ), and validation activities.
- Leadership and Collaboration
- Mentor and train junior scientists and technicians in advanced laboratory techniques and EHS practices.
- Serve as a technical resource and contribute to a collaborative, positive, and cross-functional work environment.
- Work closely with In Vivo teams on sample preparation and coordination.
- Support ongoing research innovation and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
- Ensure strict adherence to EHS policies and procedures.
- Participate in safety assessments, audits, and risk mitigation initiatives.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and environmental responsibility.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on laboratory experience in a research or preclinical environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced laboratory techniques, including flow cytometry, western blotting, cell-based assays, ELISA, PCR, CRISPR, immune cell enrichment, and cell-based assays.
- Strong understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), laboratory documentation, and biohazard handling procedures.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to compose clear, concise, and professional scientific documentation.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced research environment while maintaining high scientific and operational standards.
- Preferred:
- Ph.D. in Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- 2+ years of experience developing and validating assays under GLP requirements.
- Previous experience mentoring, training, or supervising laboratory personnel.
- Experience supporting studies in cancer immunology, infectious disease, toxicology, inflammation, or metabolic disease research.
- Experience with hematology, histology, and clinical chemistry instrumentation and data analysis.
- A track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications demonstrating technical expertise and scientific contribution.
- Strong understanding of assay development, immunophenotyping, immunogenicity testing, ADA assays, or antibody PK analysis.
Additional Information
