OTHRFull-time
About the Role
The employee conducts research with a focus on magnetic nanomaterials, chiral nanomaterials, quantum sensing, magneto-optics and magnetic-field detection relevant to microelectronic systems.
Research Activities
- Synthesis, processing, and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles and core/shell nanostructures, including iron oxide (Fe₃O₄) and cobalt ferrite (CoFe₂O₄) nanoparticle systems
- Investigation of magnetic anisotropy, exchange coupling, magnetotransport phenomena, and tunneling magnetotransport spin-dependent optical processes, and magneto-optical properties in nanoparticle assemblies for sensing, photonic, and spintronic applications
Experimental Duties
- Nanoparticle synthesis and sample preparation
- Structural characterization using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD)
- Magnetic characterization using vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) and Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) instrumentation
- Optical, chiroptical, and magneto-optical measurements, including absorption spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, magnetic circular dichroism (MCD), magneto-photoluminescence (MCPL/Magneto-PL), and related spectroscopic techniques to study excited-state dynamics and light-matter interactions
