Research Scientist II
About the role
Research Scientists are individuals holding a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree who play a major role in enabling research programs through collaborative and collegial interactions with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and staff. This staff appointment will conduct specialized iPSC line derivation, gene-editing, validation, and differentiation services based on user requests and needs, as well as iPSC core directives. They will manage the resources of the iPSC Core Facility, including tracking expenditures, managing billing, and other tasks related to maintaining the Core’s operational efficiency and fiscal sustainability. They will also provide administrative support for the Tulane Center of Excellence for Microphysiological Systems.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quantifiable, meaningful research.
- Demonstrate excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds at all levels internal and external to the organization.
- Work collaboratively as a positive, contributing member of a team.
- Utilize various standardized word processing, spreadsheet preparation, and presentation software.
- Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Prioritize work, performing assignments with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- Terminal Degree (Ph.D./M.D./D.V.M., etc.).
- A minimum of 5 years of research experience in a relevant field post terminal degree completion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Work experience in an academic environment.
- More than 5 years’ professional research work experience.
