Research Scientist I
Job Summary
The University of Mississippi's National Center for Physical Acoustics (NCPA) seeks a Research Scientist I to contribute to the development and design of advanced acoustic signal processing algorithms and software.
Job Description
- Demonstrated experience developing mathematical models of systems employing sensors for signal processing or control.
- Demonstrated experience in applying statistical data analysis techniques to multiple-channel data.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applied linear algebra and experience translating mathematical solutions into software.
- Demonstrated project leadership and successful mentoring of students.
- Demonstrated ability to develop research proposals, prepare and deliver technical presentations, and prepare manuscripts for journal publication.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physical acoustics, array signal processing techniques, and C++ (highly desirable).
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant field of engineering or science (Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field).
- A minimum of nine (9) years of relevant experience including:
- Demonstrated experience developing mathematical models of systems employing sensors for signal processing or control.
- Demonstrated experience in applying statistical data analysis techniques to multiple-channel data.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applied linear algebra and experience translating mathematical solutions into software.
Education Qualifications
- PhD in Engineering Science (Required).
Job Responsibilities
- Work with NCPA staff and students to develop and design unique and state-of-the-art acoustic signal processing algorithms and software.
- Develop and apply mathematical models of systems employing sensors for signal processing or control.
- Apply statistical data analysis techniques to multiple-channel data.
- Translate mathematical solutions into software.
- Develop research proposals, prepare and deliver technical presentations, and prepare manuscripts for journal publication.
- Mentor students.
