Emerge is looking for recent PhD graduates and early-career researchers to join a high-stakes, large-scale research and data validation project. We are moving quickly and looking to onboard the right team members starting next week.

About the role

Move beyond the bench and apply your scientific rigor to curate and validate the datasets that power future research. You will be responsible for reviewing scientific content, cross-referencing claims against established repositories, and ensuring data integrity across complex Life Science domains.

Commitment: 25-35 hours per week
Start Date: Next week
Location: Remote
Pay: $50/hour - $90/hour (dependent upon experience and area of scientific discipline)

Requirements

  • PhD Level Expertise: You have a completed (or recently completed) PhD in a Life Sciences discipline.
  • Proven Research Rigor: You have a track record of publications in major journals and deep experience working with domain-specific datasets and research databases.
  • Analytical Precision: You are the person who catches the missing decimal point or the contradictory claim in a literature review.
  • Technical Literacy: You know your way around the major databases, repositories, and data sources in your specific field.

Responsibilities

  • Data Validation: Assess scientific claims against published literature and established datasets.
  • Quality Assurance: Identify inconsistencies, errors, and misleading information in scientific datasets.
  • Curate & Organize: Annotate and classify research data to ensure high-quality standards.
  • Critical Thinking: Apply your deep scientific knowledge to evaluate the relevance and reliability of research outputs.

  • Molecular & Cellular: Molecular/Cell Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biochemistry.
  • Organismal: Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology.
  • Ecology & Environment: Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, Marine Biology, Environmental Science.
  • Applied & Quantitative: Pharmacology, Toxicology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Neuroscience, Immunology.
