Research Scientist - Computed Tomography (Orange, OH)
About the role
The Research Scientist will develop innovative physics-based solutions/corrections and support medical imaging platform needs by leading image quality improvements in CT by developing cutting edge Photon Counting systems. Your Role is to apply a system-level engineering approach to develop CT/X-ray imaging features, focusing on signal and image processing, CT reconstruction, and calibration to optimize image quality. You will investigate and resolve image quality issues during product introduction and from the installed base, communicating findings clearly to stakeholders. You will deliver safe, effective, and well-documented solutions based on rigorous data analysis. You will develop and enhance R&D tools for physics-based simulation and image formation, including benchmarks, dataflow requirements, and Software Requirement Specifications. You will work primarily in MATLAB, with increasing use of Python and optional C++ for performance-critical components. You will maintain deep expertise in CT physics and advanced processing algorithms, with strong emphasis on photon-counting CT as a top priority. You will drive innovation by owning the CT imaging physics roadmap and aligning with business strategy across clinical, marketing, and systems teams. You will stay current on emerging technologies such as AI/deep learning, contribute to IP and publications, and represent the organization in regulatory and industry engagements.
