Syensqo is a science company where bright minds collaborate to develop innovative solutions that improve lives while preserving the planet. As a Team Research Scientist, you will lead research and innovation projects supporting product development for Syensqo Specialty Polymers.
Responsibilities
- Act and promote a strong safety culture within the team and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead research and innovation projects, developing and characterizing new materials aligned with targeted customer requirements.
- Develop materials with new and innovative property profiles to accelerate growth.
- Collaborate closely with Key Customers, Commercial Teams, Product Asset Management (PAM), and other R&I teams to:
- Develop new products (via extrusion and reactive extrusion) that sustain existing business and drive future growth.
- Support PAM and Manufacturing to maintain existing solutions for various product families and applications.
- Work closely with Product Realization to ensure timely and effective industrialization of new compounds and formulations in Manufacturing plants.
- Expand technical knowledge of polymeric/reinforcement/additives availability, technical attributes, and their impact on compounded materials performance.
- Stay informed about and understand the intellectual property landscape in experimental areas, including reviewing industry literature, filing invention disclosures, and collaborating with patent attorneys on new filings, defending existing patents, and challenging competitive patents with sound scientific data.
- Systematically document development and research work in the form of technical reports, seminars, and patent applications to ensure knowledge sharing and retention.
- Plan and schedule activities to meet customer needs and delivery timeframes.
- Influence people both with and without direct authority.
- Interact directly with multiple functions across the organization and with customers.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD with work experience preferred in Chemistry, Engineering, Material or Polymer Science, or a related field.
- Preferred qualifications: field experience in compounds development and experience with high-performance polymers.
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create and follow detailed project schedules.

Pay
The U.S. base salary range for this position is $98,720 to $123,400 per year. Actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate and may include bonus and/or other incentives.
