About the role
This Research Scientist/Engineer position is responsible for providing technical analysis and consultation on a variety of chemical and engineering challenges, including process planning for energetic materials, experimental design, data and statistical analysis, and the preparation of regular status updates and technical reports.
Responsibilities
- Plan and develop energetic-material processes and experiments.
- Perform data and statistical analyses.
- Handle energetic materials and other hazardous materials.
- Prepare regular status updates and technical reports.
Requirements
- For Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline with 2 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 0 years of professional experience.
- For Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
Qualifications
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
- Ability to pass a background check for the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to interpret and report on test data.
- Detail-oriented yet able to see the bigger picture and prioritize effectively.
Skills
- Knowledge and/or experience with energetic-material formulation.
- Knowledge and/or experience with pyrotechnic gas generants.
- Experience handling hazardous materials.
- Familiarity with manufacturing process control and related methodologies.
- Knowledge and understanding of device-design principles.
- Working knowledge of common chemical and thermal analysis methods.
- Experience using statistical tools to analyze and interpret data.
- Experience with risk-assessment methodologies such as HA, DFMEA, and PFMEA.
- Experience with structured RCCA problem-solving tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, Fault-Tree Analysis, and 8D.

Pay
Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Schedule
The role will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
