Position Overview

The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Minnesota is seeking a 50% Research Professional to support an NIH-funded study focused on sexual and reproductive health (RSH) among people with disabilities (PWD) in Tanzania. This project is a collaborative partnership between the University of Minnesota and Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Tanzania.

Position Overview

This project will conduct a needs assessment of RSH care delivery for PWD by interviewing primary care providers and teachers across multiple regions of Tanzania. This Position Will Report To Dr. Kristen Mark, Principal Investigator (Family Medicine) and Ms. Gunna Kilian, Program Manager (Epidemiology & Community Health).

Study Coordination

• Coordinate day-to-day study activities in the U.S related to the study aim.
• Draft protocols and maintain detailed project documentation.
• Communicate regularly with investigators, staff, and external collaborators.
• Cook up logistics for data collection, training, and implementation.
• Travel to Tanzania to conduct qualitative interviews with key stakeholders.

Project Scheduling & Reporting

• Develop and maintain study timelines and tracking systems.
• Monitor progress and proactively address delays or challenges.

Data Analysis

• Translate interview transcripts into English.
• Conduct qualitative analysis using Dedoose.
• Draft a findings report and present results to the study team.

Other Duties

• Provide general research and administrative support.
• Aid in document management, communications, and grant-related tasks.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree, or a combination of education and experience and relevant work experience to equal four years.
• Experience working in Tanzania.
• Fluency in Kiswahili.
• Experience with qualitative data collection and Dedoose software.
• Experience conducting literature reviews.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to travel internationally to oversee research activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a social science, public health, or related field, or a combination of education and experience totaling four years.

Pay And Benefits

Pay Range: $23.84 to $26.80 per hour, we anticipate most offers will be around the midpoint of this range, depending on education and experience. Time Appointment: 50% + Appointment (20-30 hours per week) Position Type: Civil-Service.
