Research Post Doctoral Fellow

Job Summary

The Ivy Brain Tumor Center at Barrow Neurological Institute is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow to engage in laboratory, translational, or clinical research under the direction of a faculty member. The ideal candidate will develop additional skills necessary for an independent investigative career, contributing to ongoing research projects and advancing scientific understanding.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop brain-targeting therapeutics via rational design and neuro-pharmacokinetic assessment.
• Conduct experiments, analyze data, interpret findings, and participate in scientific discussions and publications.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of brain tumor specialists and scientists to accelerate drug discovery and precision medicine.
• Develop analytical methods for determining newly synthesized molecules, drugs, drug candidates, metabolites, and biomarkers in various biological matrices using LC-MS/MS techniques.
• Perform biochemical characterization of various molecules.
• Prepare and publish manuscript reports of research findings.
• Supervise and train laboratory research staff.
• Present research findings at local and national/international conferences.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Prepare and maintain required laboratory safety documentation and adhere to guidelines and regulations.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., post-baccalaureate M.D. or D.Sc. degree or equivalent in a relevant field of endeavor (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medical Sciences, or related disciplines).
• Laboratory or clinical research at the post-baccalaureate level with an interest in a faculty member's line of study.
• Experience in organic synthesis, bioanalysis, medicinal or pharmaceutical chemistry, rational drug design and development, physicochemical characterization, UHPLC or LCMS-based assay development.
• Good organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and cohesively as part of a team.
