About the role

The role involves providing comprehensive experience and expertise in the overall planning, conduct, and evaluation of clinical research. Leadership, mentorship, direction, and oversight activities are incorporated into the mission-focused principles of ethics, integrity, collaboration, and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Works under the Principal Investigator’s (PI) guidance to meet the research objectives of the project(s).
  • Develops Investigator Initiated research projects, including protocol development, preparation of amendments, development of required CRFs, study forms, and databases.
  • Oversees and coordinates complex or multi-site clinical research.
  • Manages complex pathophysiological concepts and critical thinking in the management of clinical trials.
  • Completes protocol required procedures under the supervision of the PI.
  • Serves as a supervisor to members of the research team, including training new staff, providing performance feedback, and overseeing staff scheduling.
  • Maintains oversight of financial state, patient recruitment milestones, and personnel resources necessary to conduct the research.
  • Assists financial and grant administrators with federal and sponsor funded trials.
  • Prepares oral and written reports and presentations, and assists with manuscript preparation for publication.
  • Administers investigational products in approved settings.
  • Provides education to staff nurses caring for research patients regarding the research study, including intervention and potential adverse events and required study procedures.
  • Performs other duties incidental to the work described above.

Job Location/Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Requires protective devices. Patient care setting. Direct patient care setting. Ability to travel to various on and off campus locations.

Physical Effort

Typically sitting at desk or table. Typically bending, crouching, stooping. Occasional lifting (25 lbs. or less).

Education

  • Required Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited nursing program. BSN or MSN or equivalent of training/experience. Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of grant compliance and FDA regulations. Familiarity with University systems. Experience with clinical trial budgets. Effective working knowledge of Investigator Initiated, Industry sponsored and NIH funded multi-center trials, all phases of clinical research. Working knowledge of techniques and methodologies used in developing, coordinating and managing clinical research projects with working knowledge of database management, and Microsoft Excel. Ability to develop realistic plans while being sensitive to the need of different constituencies, recognizing time constraints and resource availability. Ability to effectively present ideas and document activities. Ability to review and interpret written information such as federal, state, and internal guidelines and requirements.

Work Experience

  • Required Qualifications: Clinical Research (6 Years).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Academic Environment (4 Years), Nursing In A Hospital Setting (2 Years).

Salary Range

$68,700.00 - $123,600.00 / Annually
