Research Laboratory Technician - Part-Time Temp

About the Role

The Department of Microbiology & Immunology has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Research Laboratory Technician to work part-time on site in Miami.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, sanitizes, maintains, and operates laboratory equipment.
• Keeps records of research data and assists in analyzing it.
• Maintains inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies and places orders in a timely fashion.
• Proofreads and assists in the writing of manuscripts, grant proposals, and lab protocols.
• Prepares reports of experiment results.
• Performs research by completing simple experiments or steps in more complicated studies.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
• Assists with cell biology experiments (cell culture, flow cytometry).
• Performs basic molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA and RNA purification and quantification.
• Handles mice and performs in vivo mouse experiments as outlined in IACUC protocols.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
• Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
• Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

• Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or relevant degree.
• Basic molecular biology skills.
