About the Lab

The Kaczorowski Lab investigates mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disease and uses transgenic mouse models to advance the understanding of brain function, behavior, and cellular biology. We provide a collaborative and supportive environment with opportunities for skill development and hands-on training.

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain lab organization and record all information, daily, in an official laboratory notebook.
  • Assist with experiments that involve mouse handling and animal behavior assays.
  • Support the maintenance and organization of mouse colonies, including involvement in genotyping and genetic crosses.
  • Aid in mouse tissue dissection and preparation for downstream applications.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with laboratory protocols, equipment operation, and standard techniques, or show aptitude to learn these quickly.
  • Participate and present data in periodic research discussions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and achieve short and long-range plans.
  • Monitor laboratory instrumentation, ensuring proper functioning and performing routine maintenance as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, according to research or lab needs.

Qualifications

  • Associate Level: Bachelor’s degree OR 1-2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Intermediate Level: Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of experience in a related field OR 2-3 years of experience in a related field.
  • 1+ year of direct experience with in vivo mouse handling in a research setting.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis (training will be provided).
