About the role
The Research IT Specialist provides operational and technical support for the Division of Research technology environment, including desktop systems, enterprise applications, electronic research administration (eRA) platforms, websites, conferencing technologies, and emerging AI-enabled tools. This position serves as a primary resource for troubleshooting hardware, software, authentication, networking, and systems access issues while supporting secure, reliable, and efficient technology operations.
Responsibilities
- Assists with administration of research administration systems
- Maintains and supports websites
- Automates workflows using various tools
- Provides analytics support
- Supports user service requests
- Serves as a primary resource for troubleshooting technology issues
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 2+ years of relevant IT support experience
- Experience with Linux/Unix, Windows operating systems, and network infrastructure
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash
- Knowledge of web development frameworks like Django or Flask
- Understanding of cloud computing services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

- Technical proficiency in IT support areas
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
