About the role

Join New Mexico State University's Research Administration team as a Research Integrity Coordinator. Based in Las Cruces, the Research Integrity Coordinator implements and monitors components of oversight programs in the unit of Research Integrity and Compliance within the Research Administration Department. Coordinates institutional-wide initiatives in one or more specialized areas, including the review boards for research with human participants, animals, bio-hazards, export controls, research security programs, and/or financial conflict of interest and commitment disclosures.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor components of oversight programs in the unit of Research Integrity and Compliance.
  • Coordinate institutional-wide initiatives in one or more specialized areas, including review boards for research with human participants, animals, bio-hazards, export controls, research security programs, and/or financial conflict of interest and commitment disclosures.
  • Assist review committees by providing administrative management of electronic approval systems and record keeping.
  • Serve as a designated point of contact to respond to requests from faculty, staff, and students for guidance and training in compliance topics.
  • Provide timely and informed customer service.
  • Develop and implement training and written procedures for emerging regulatory issues.
  • Coordinate actions for the research oversight committees to ensure timely reviews and approvals of proposals that have compliance requirements.
  • Provide administrative support to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and other research review boards.
  • Use computer and university enterprise systems to prepare communications, meeting records, and reports.
  • Develop written materials and web content to promote best practices in research conduct and oversight.
  • Provide subject-specific guidance and communicate effectively orally and in writing to assist researchers, staff, and students with research compliance inquiries and solutions.
  • Provide continuity of operations capabilities for all office functions.
  • Develop and implement training and serve as a designated point of contact for research compliance processes.
  • Maintain knowledge of current federal, state, and local regulations and university policies in one or more topics: animal care, occupational health and safety, responsible conduct of research, export controls, and/or research security and integrity programs.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections of research areas to monitor conformance to the requirements for animal care, bio-safety, and/or research security programs.
  • Prepare reports and maintain internal records of research compliance actions.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree + 7 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 5 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a related field.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Physical Effort: No or very limited physical effort required.
  • Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.
  • Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
