Research Fellow - Physiology & BME - Chang lab
About the Role
The soft matter and microfluidics group at Mayo Clinic, led by Dr. Connie Chang, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop innovative microfluidic technologies for molecular diagnostics and biomedical applications. The ideal candidate will have expertise in microfluidics and/or molecular biology, with an interest in integrating molecular biology workflows into miniaturized, automated microfluidic systems. In particular, we are interested in candidates with experience in drop-based (droplet) microfluidics and the ability to perform or develop molecular biology assays within droplets.
Research Areas
- Microfluidics and drop-based/droplet microfluidics
- Disease diagnostics and biomarker detection
- RNA, DNA, and protein detection, and quantification
- Molecular biology in droplet-based microfluidic systems
- Miniaturization and automation of molecular bioassays
- Integration of sample preparation, amplification, detection, and quantification on microfluidic platforms
- Development of novel microfluidic technologies for high-throughput and single-cell/molecular analysis
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Applied Sciences
- Preferred experience in drop-based microfluidics, microfabrication, molecular biology, and/or diagnostics
- Seeking an ambitious, curious, open-minded, and collaborative individual
- Strong written and oral communication skills required, including technical reporting
