This position supports the Civil Rights Enforcement Bureau by conducting research tasks that would otherwise be handled by attorneys, increasing capacity for case investigation and resolution. The fellow will engage in pre-complaint interventions, investigations, and file complaints as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on discrimination claims made by the public and identify patterns of systemic discrimination.
  • Collaborate with other units of the Commission on Civil Rights (CCHR) to develop coordinated strategies for addressing systemic discrimination.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described; or equivalent education and/or experience.

Qualifications

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, city employees in certain titles who have worked for the city for two continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.

Pay

$44,545.00 – $74,134.00
