This is an in-office role. Full-time employees are expected to work primarily from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week, with flexibility for occasional remote work or adjusted schedules to accommodate personal commitments.

About the Role and Team

The Research Group at Applied Intuition is seeking passionate early-career Research Engineers to help create cutting-edge technology for next-generation physical AI, with a focus on end-to-end autonomous driving and robotic generalists. The team consists of leading experts from top institutions and companies, recognized for exceptional academic and industry contributions, including eight Best Paper awards at premier conferences such as CVPR and ICRA.

Researchers have access to industry-leading tools and infrastructure, including millions of miles of data from large fleets, and can deploy their methods into autonomous and robotic systems such as self-driving cars/trucks, autonomous mining/construction machines, humanoid robots, and dexterous hands. This role is ideal for recent PhD or MS graduates eager to translate strong academic research into shipped autonomy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the ADAS stack engineering team to test and deploy end-to-end algorithms for mass production vehicles.
  • Collaborate with the simulation team to deploy data-driven generation algorithms for highly efficient and automated tools.
  • Conduct research on architecture design, robustness, safety, and language modality incorporation for a differentiable stack.
  • Work closely with Research Scientists and interns on high-quality research publications for top-tier conferences.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following fields:
    • World-action foundation model, video/Gaussian generation, diffusion policy, multi-modal robot learning
    • VLA post-training, reinforcement learning
    • Physics-aware reconstruction, deformable simulation
  • MSc or PhD in machine learning and computer vision with autonomy and robotics applications or a closely related field, graduating by December 2026 or Summer 2027.
  • Passion for next-generation, scalable autonomy and robotics for real-world systems.
  • Strong engineering and research skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Technical experience in Python, PyTorch, computer vision, robotics systems, and distributed machine learning model training.

Nice to Have

  • Industry experience on relevant topics, preferably in self-driving applications.
  • Passion for building and shipping customer-focused software frameworks or tools.

Pay

Compensation range: $140,000 – $200,000.
