Research Engineer II -Gypsum

Key Responsibilities

• Independently execute and lead laboratory and pilot-scale projects focused on product development, product improvement, raw material qualification, and laboratory test development.
• Design, execute, and interpret experiments; develop technical recommendations and project plans to advance product and process innovation.
• Lead plant trials, prototype development, and scale-up activities with manufacturing, suppliers, and external partners.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and technology transfer activities; develop technical reports, presentations, project documentation, and recommendations to support business objectives.
• Promote a strong safety culture through equipment stewardship, training, and 5S activities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to interns, co-ops, technicians, or junior team members as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience, or Master’s Degree with thesis in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Plastics/Polymer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop and present technical recommendations to management, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
• Demonstrated project leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues across organizational levels and functions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in product development, manufacturing support, process improvement, raw material qualification, or technology commercialization activities.
• Experience conducting pilot trials, plant trials, or scale-up activities.
• Ability to influence technical decisions through data-driven recommendations, collaboration, and effective communication.
