Research Engineer

About the role

The Research Engineer will work with a team of 3-5 to enhance and optimize R&D algorithms, deriving insights from raw sensor data. They will apply expertise in imagery science to write software in Python using modern libraries and Software Engineering methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and optimize R&D algorithms to derive insights from raw sensor data
• Apply expertise in imagery science to write software in Python using modern libraries and Software Engineering methodologies
• Collaborate with a team of 3-5 to develop and deploy image processing algorithms
• Work with OPIR image processing and data exploitation techniques
• Follow algorithm deployment concepts including containerization and databases

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Physics, Math or Engineering discipline with 3-7 years of experience
• Active Top Secret security clearance required
• Largely perform from WPAFB

Qualifications

• Effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms
• Initiative when faced with limited guidance or ambiguous requirements
• Expertise developing image processing algorithms in Python
• Experience with OPIR image processing and data exploitation
• Familiarity with algorithm deployment concepts including containerization and databases

Skills

• Strong understanding of software configuration management using Git
• Experience with Container Technology (Docker / podman / etc.)
• Experience following GitFlow and GitOps workflows using team repository (GitHub / Gitlab / etc.)

Desired Education and Experience

• Master of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Engineering discipline
• Expertise developing modular, reusable software via strong Object-Oriented Software development practices
