The Research Director or Chief Scientist oversees the overall research agenda and ensures that all projects align with TAIRC's mission.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute research plans: Design comprehensive research strategies, identify goals, and oversee implementation. This includes defining methodologies, selecting appropriate data collection strategies, and coordinating studies.
- Supervise researchers and allocate resources: Lead a team of researchers, assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure resources such as time, budget, and equipment are optimally used.
- Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with external partners, industry collaborators, and policy makers to align research efforts with broader societal needs.
- Produce research reports and publish findings: Summarize results, prepare manuscripts and technical reports, and disseminate findings through conferences and journals.
- Secure funding: Identify grant opportunities, develop proposals, and collaborate with the Grants Director to secure financial support.
- Mentor junior scientists: Provide guidance on experimental design, project management, and career development.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field, with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Proven leadership experience managing research teams and complex projects.
- Excellent communication skills for writing grant proposals and presenting findings to diverse audiences.
- Ability to build collaborations across academia, industry, and government.
TAIRC is currently building its funding base. Opportunities identified as volunteer or unpaid do not provide compensation at this stage. Any future paid appointment would require available funding, organizational approval, applicable legal compliance, and a separate written agreement.
