About the role
Under the guidance of a Research Contract Analyst Lead, this position prepares, negotiates, and executes contractual agreements with trial sponsors on behalf of TGH while collaborating with cross-functional departments to meet client deliverables. The role ensures all duties align with the mission, vision, and values of the Office of Clinical Research and Tampa General Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Reviews draft contract documents (e.g., Start-up Agreements, Work Orders, Change Orders) from sponsor/grantor templates, following guidance from the Research Contract Analyst Lead and relevant departments.
- Facilitates negotiation of Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs) by reviewing sponsor CDAs and negotiating within CDA review guidelines, coordinating with TGH’s legal and business departments for timely execution.
- Drafts and edits contractual agreements using existing standard templates and policies.
- Communicates with legal counsel as needed to ensure TGH’s positions are protected and potential concerns are addressed.
- Directs sponsor interactions for new and established contacts per guidance from the Research Contract Analyst Lead.
- Reviews and edits sponsor contractual templates to ensure alignment with TGH’s requirements and industry standards.
- Ensures contracts reflect all appropriate TGH edits before submission to sponsors.
- Processes and maintains contractual documents in relevant databases.
- Delivers high-quality work within strict deadlines.
- Prepares contract approval timelines and leads follow-up efforts to secure approvals.
- Negotiates and finalizes contract language in accordance with project requirements, TGH policies, and industry standards.
- Manages dissemination and filing of contractual agreements.
- Coordinates efforts among TGH clients, suppliers, and outside counsel to facilitate timely execution of agreements.
- Maintains up-to-date tracking of contracts and client correspondence, providing periodic internal updates.
- Participates in the development and testing of tools and procedures.
- Prepares ad hoc management reports as required.
- Leads or participates in client and team calls.
- Attends contract review meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as paralegal or legal studies.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.
- Clinical trial contracting experience highly preferred.
- Advanced legal training or coursework preferred.
- Strong contract negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of contract management principles.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Outlook, and database software.
- Fluency in English, both oral and written.
- Excellent writing capabilities, including the ability to draft reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contractual documents and technical procedures.
- Strong presentation skills, with the ability to respond effectively to questions from managers and clients.
- Problem-solving skills to address variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Highly organized with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Confidence in interacting with internal staff and external stakeholders.
Schedule
- Full-time position.
- Scheduled days: Monday through Friday.
- Shift: Day shift (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
- Eligible for fully remote work.
Pay
Minimum starting salary: $27.90 per hour.
