Research Chemist I

About the role

We are seeking an innovative and collaborative Research Chemist to join our dynamic team. This role works closely with Research Scientists to evaluate and develop new chemistries, processes, or applications related to Indorama products. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biochemistry, or Polymer Chemistry/Engineering, or a BS in another science field with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an awareness of the literature and other sources of information to remain current with developments in functional products.
• Work to complete projects in the US project pipeline.
• Set up and execute laboratory work to meet both internal and external customer expectations.
• Set up and execute laboratory work as outlined by R&D scientists.
• Analyze samples using various analytical methods or applications testing.
• Keep neat and orderly notebooks containing a record of all work performed.
• Maintain other records necessary to support patent applications for innovative products.
• Manage and optimize all process under your responsibility, considering Quality, Legality, and Food Safety (if applicable).
• Guarantee all documentation under your responsibility is updated and available for consulting.
• Stop the process if any issues affecting regulation, quality, food safety, or Indorama's customers or products/services are detected.
• Interact with the R&D team to improve lab methods and other internal and external clients as needed.
• Follow all safety and training requirements.
• Document results in lab notebooks and PMOx.

Requirements

• BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biochemistry, or Polymer Chemistry/Engineering required.
• BS in other science field plus 2+ years in Research laboratory work.
• Associates Degree with 5+ years in Research laboratory work.
• 0-3 years' experience (more 3 years' experience preferred) in R&D laboratory preferred.
• Surfactants knowledge in laboratory or application use strongly preferred.
• Use and knowledge of Parr Reactors preferred.
• Computer literacy with databases, word processing, spreadsheets.
• Excellent organizational and communications skills.
• Demonstrated presentation skills preferred.
• Experience in chromatography, spectroscopy, wet analysis, or other analytical techniques preferred.
• Formulation experience in Agricultural, Home Care, or Coatings preferred.
• English with Bilingual Portuguese or Spanish strongly preferred.
