About AtlasBase

AtlasBase is a fast-growing pioneer in Molecular Computing, bridging the gap between traditional IT and biotechnology. We are redefining global IT infrastructure by driving breakthroughs in both Molecular Compute and Molecular Data Storage. By commercializing synthetic DNA-based technologies at IT scale, AtlasBase delivers ultra-high-density, low-maintenance, and carbon-conscious solutions built for the explosive growth and value of the world's data. Leveraging nature’s most durable medium, we provide a virtually permanent foundation that transforms how the world processes and secures its most critical information. Originally spun out of Twist Bioscience, our team is an elite fusion of scientists, engineers, and operators dedicated to solving some of the most complex infrastructure challenges on Earth.

Responsibilities

  • Directly support Atlas’s CMOS chip-based DNA synthesis, including both Phosphoramidite and Enzymatic workflows as required to support product and customer development needs.
  • Perform regular on-chip DNA synthesis runs for customers, encompassing reagent preparation, chip handling, extraction of DNA, and post-extraction PCR, aliquoting, and encapsulation.
  • Lead operation of all hardware and manage limited-scale production, growing the team as business demands.
  • Develop and analyze QC data to ensure completed samples meet quality standards before shipment.
  • Develop and implement SOPs for the production process.
  • Train and manage Research Associates and Operators to execute SOPs effectively.
  • Develop processes to reduce turnaround time and optimize production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or other relevant field.
  • 5+ years of work experience in an industry setting is desirable.
  • Prior experience with custom instrumentation within a workflow: running experiments to characterize either the instrument, chip, or other modules involved in the process.
  • Comfortable learning to operate new hardware.
  • Experience with automated liquid handlers.
  • Experience in research or production of solid-phase oligonucleotide (DNA) synthesis (phosphoramidite and/or enzymatic).
  • Experience with laboratory techniques including DNA characterization (Qubit, Nanodrop, Bioanalyzer, CE), PCR, qPCR, LCMS, NGS, or DNA hybridization assay.
  • Knowledge of silicon processing techniques or electrochemistry is a plus.
  • Understanding of micro-scale processes, physics, chemistry, or surface chemistry development is a plus.
  • Self-learner and self-starter with the ability to grasp concepts and techniques quickly.
  • Desire to wear multiple hats within a small unit and develop a well-rounded, multidisciplinary profile.
  • Experience managing and training small groups of research associates and operators to maintain production efficiency while ensuring compliance with SOPs.
