The Ray and Stephanie Lane Computational Biology Department (CBD) at Carnegie Mellon University is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach to studying biological systems using computational methods. About the role

CBD is seeking a Research Associate to assist in the development and execution of research projects including experiment design, analysis of data collected, and writing up experiment results. Responsibilities

• Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect, and record results or observations.
• Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures.
• Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.
• Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination, or presentation; writes technical reports.
• May build and validate quantitative models.
• Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.
• May program software in support of job functions.
• Attends project meetings.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 1-3 years of research experience.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
