Research Associate Physics
About the role
Brookhaven National Laboratory's National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II) is a cutting‑edge synchrotron facility enabling nanoscale‑resolution X‑ray imaging and high‑resolution energy analysis for users from academia and industry. The Optics Group at NSLS‑II seeks a Research Associate specializing in optical metrology for X‑ray mirrors. Working within the P3N (Pioneering Nanometrology and Nanofabrication for Next‑Generation X‑ray Mirrors) program, you will use the Optical Coordinate Measuring Machine (OCMM) platform to advance precision measurement and characterization of ultra‑precision X‑ray optics, develop repeatable workflows, validate metrology techniques, and contribute to next‑generation synchrotron capabilities. Brookhaven National Laboratory delivers discovery science and transformative technology, with seven Nobel Prize‑winning discoveries, 37 R&D 100 Awards, and over 70 years of pioneering research. Occasional travel may be required.
