Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform experiments to assess and improve DNA throughput on the Stratys Chip(30%).
- Track experiments, analyze results, and present data to be reviewed by Bionano Team(20%).
- Build prototype nano-channel Chips. (20%)
- Generate DNA samples to be used in chip studies.(10%)
- Work with supervisor and operations to identify parameters to drive continuous process improvement(10%)
- Provide feedback to improve software and hardware system performance(5%)
Required Skills and Abilities
- At least 1 year of experience with fluorescent microscopy, pipetting, electrophoresis, and standard wet bio lab bench procedures.
- Ability to analyze data from multiply sources and use analysis tools such as (but not limited to) python, Jmp, excel, or R to aide in analysis.
- Working knowledge of DNA extraction and labeling methods.
- Basic understanding of genomics and human genetics.
- At least 1 year of experience with NGS and/or long-read sequencing technologies.
- Proven success working within a cross-functional team.
- Detail oriented with strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to ask questions, take initiative, and work in a fast-paced team environment.
Education, Certifications, Licenses
- Bachelor’s degree in bio-engineering, biophysics, physics, chemistry, or biotechnology is required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in research and development in the genomics industry required.

- Work Location: Onsite – San Diego, CA
- Travel Requirements: Minimal travel time expected(less than 5%)

- Sit and stand for prolonged periods
- Repeating motions that may include the hands, wrists and/or fingers
- Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms
- Stand and/or move about the office or in various environments (including tight and confined spaces), or from one worksite to another
- Specific visual abilities, including close vision and ability to adjust focus, read, review, and assess the accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned
- Verbal abilities require communicating with others to exchange information
- Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 40 pounds in all directions
- Work environment involving low/high temperatures; hazardous conditions, low ventilation, noisy environments, small/enclosed spaces
- In-person interaction with others indoors and outdoors
- Use standard computer, telephone and related equipment for communication, and recordkeeping
