Research Associate I – Genome Engineering
The Allen Institute is seeking a Research Associate to join the Proteomics team at the Allen Institute for Neural Dynamics. The ideal candidate will have a background in biological sciences and a willingness to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
About the Role
The Allen Institute for Neural Dynamics focuses on fundamental discoveries in systems neuroscience. The team aims to understand how the brain processes information and guides behavior, developing new methods and theories to advance knowledge and therapies for brain disorders.
Responsibilities
- Mammalian cell culture including viral packaging
- Nucleic acid extraction from cultured cells and brain tissue
- Next-generation sequencing library preparation
- Advanced molecular cloning techniques
- Follow standardized operating procedures, good laboratory practices, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain clear and accurate communication within and between teams
- Adhere to a team schedule and manage time effectively
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience, or related discipline
- Experience with the preparation of laboratory reagents, buffers, and aliquots
- Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 genome engineering
Qualifications
- Strong background in biological sciences
- Willingness to work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment
- Ability to follow standardized operating procedures and adhere to regulatory requirements
Skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Pay
The annualized salary range for this position is $54,250 - $66,450, depending on required education, experience, and skills.
Schedule
This role is currently working onsite and is expected to work onsite for the majority of working hours. The primary work location is 615 Westlake Ave N., with the flexibility to work remotely on a limited basis.
