RESEARCH ASSOCIATE - Health Care Delivery
About the role
The Research Associate position is a 1–2 year paid fellowship working under the mentorship of Dr. Hojjat Salehinejad. Mayo Clinic is a leading healthcare provider and research institution, consistently ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
Responsibilities
The Research Associate will design and develop novel AI/ML algorithms, translate advanced computational methods into healthcare solutions, lead interdisciplinary collaborations, publish high-impact scientific work, and contribute to health services research, health policy, and quantitative health sciences.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in data structures and algorithms, stochastic processes, statistical learning theory, and machine learning, including deep learning
- Advanced programming in Python, including scientific computing and ML libraries (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn)
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and/or PyTorch
- Linux environments and shell scripting
- Database systems (e.g., MySQL, Redis)
- Containerization technologies (e.g., Docker)
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other large-scale cloud computing environments is considered a plus
- Peer-reviewed publications demonstrating both methodological rigor and applied impact
- Excellent proficiency in all four English language skills, with particular strength in scientific writing and manuscript preparation
Qualifications
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program
Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $96,854.10 - $113,305.50/year. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, pre-tax savings accounts (HSA, FSA), and a competitive retirement package.
