Research Associate Co-Op, In Vivo Cardiopulmonary/Fibrosis

About the role
This is a 6-month co-op role in our preclinical research group focusing on rare cardiopulmonary diseases. The candidate will gain valuable industry experience and receive extensive training in vivo and ex vivo research. A successful candidate will be inquisitive about science and capable of troubleshooting by reviewing literature/colleagues and designing experiments to test hypotheses.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supports in vivo studies: willingness to work with rodents (Rats and Mice). This includes animal handling, dosing (IP/IV/SC/PO), bleeding, necropsy, tissue collection and wet lab sample processing.
- Basic molecular biology techniques: RNA isolation, qPCR, Western Blot, ELISA and flow cytometry
- Maintains clear, accurate records of experimental details and summarize data as needed in study reports.

- Provide updates at weekly team meetings.
Core Competencies (Required Skills)
- Physiology, biology, biochemistry and molecular biology.
- Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team as well as independently with supervision.
- Excellent communication and organization skills, good working knowledge of MS office, and data plotting.
Preferred Skills
- Interest in cardiopulmonary physiology and fibrotic biology.
- Prior experience with laboratory animals (rodents), open to learning and perfecting rodent handling and dosing techniques.
- Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques including RNA isolation, qPCR, Western Blot, ELISA
- Experience in cardiac and pulmonary function assessment, and imaging is a plus.

Potential base pay range $28—$32 USD
