Responsibilities
- Conduct applied research on healthcare utilization, medical costs, disability, and other policy-relevant topics.
- Process, manage, and analyze administrative claims data and other large datasets.
- Draft reports, presentations, charts, and other research products for industry and policy audiences.
- Support the development of analytic tools, including Tableau dashboards.
- Present research findings internally and in public or professional forums.
- Collaborate with research leadership to develop research questions and methodology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, actuarial science, public policy, public health, health services research, data analytics, or a related field; at least three years of experience in applied research, health data analysis, public policy, or a related area (relevant graduate research experience may also be considered).
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with large or complex datasets; experience with SQL, SAS, R, or Python and advanced Excel proficiency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Graduate degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with healthcare, disability, insurance, or administrative claims data, including medical billing and procedure coding.
- Knowledge of the California workers’ compensation system.
- Experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools.

$85,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full-time Oakland, CA office, with potential for hybrid work.
